We are a secular republic where the Judiciary have asked the crucifixes to be removed from all public places.

The Catholic church protested but the church is separated from the state and the judiciary decision stood.

Thus the judiciary will not take any action against an artist or the art itself based on someones belief

Freedom of expression must not be confused with giving disproportionate and irresponsible offense, which can provoke serious consequences for society," (That is libertinagem, not liberdade)

Remember when I kicked people out of the thread? That is the Brazilian way to deal when people do not get it that:

there is liberdade (freedom) and there is libertinagem (fastness; crapulence; profligacy, salacity; vice).

Unfortunately, owing to the fact that English is an imprecise language, these nuances are not perceived by the Anglo-Saxon speaking peoples.
