AMDites, Cyrix, IDT, AMD agreeing on 3D extensions soon?

Here's a link I didn't notice before:
techweb.com

RE: Centaur (IDT) extensions:
Anticipating an agreement, Centaur, the smallest of the three
companies in market share, has already taken a look at the AMD technology and determined it could implement it in time to make the C6+ schedule. "We've actually done the technical work," said Henry.

RE: Cyrix (NSM) extensions:
Although neither side has publicly detailed the inner workings of
its 3-D enhancements, Slater said a compromise agreement might not be difficult to reach. Both AMD and Cyrix have implemented a capability to issue two single-precision, floating-point instructions simultaneously. And a handful of unique instructions that Cyrix has created-such as square root, inverse square root and pixel distance for motion estimation-could be easily layered onto AMD's base technology.

"It's just a matter of being careful to not have any overlap in
using the same op codes," he said.

While a compromise is technical feasible, Slater said the fact that
AMD is the only company with working silicon available for Microsoft to use in finalizing work on its DirectX 6.0 could be a
strong factor in getting the trio to agree to simply adopt the AMD approach.

PriceWatch now shows a low of $250 with 14 sources reporting k6-233's
at prices below $300.

I am getting unsubstantiated reports of shortages of k6-200's and
166's. (Orders not being filled etc.)

Regards,
