Everyone gets to use federal land!

A lot of it is very restricted, and a lot more is restricted to a lesser extent. And if the feds imposed no restrictions at all, you would have a tragedy of the commons situation, and still not have people be able to own and borrow against land.

I grew up in the Bay area where there was very little public land.

In the middle of a city.

Government (federal and state levels) own over half of California, and over 95% of Alaska. Almost a billion acres all together.
