To All:
From theStreet.com this morning re-Asia and AMAT...

Asia and Technology
Bill Schaff

Asian currency weakness and stock market declines will have
little effect on technology company stocks. At least that's
the opinion of Bill Schaff, the portfolio manager of the
InformationTech 100 mutual fund, based in San Francisco.
The impact will be felt over years, not months, he writes. He
believes the growth in semiconductor sales may be reduced slightly
by lower Asian demand, trending closer to 15% next year -- which he
characterizes as "still quite healthy by any measurement." The
only companies that will feel pain are those exposed heavily to
Korean and emerging markets, he says.

In the semiconductor equipment sector, the portfolio manager
believes it's a stock picker's game. Applied Materials and KLA-Tencor will be survivors, and he also likes Cymer
at its current price.

Jacob, yesterday we had notes posted saying a deal has been reached
(between S.Korea and IMF). Now a deal may or may not have been reached. The experts, according to this article, are arguing about
2.5 vs 3% growth rate as if they were certain they knew what
effects that has. There is a lot of posturing and attempts at
face saving right now.

All in all, I have a large salt shaker next to my PC.<G>

Also, the semi fabs reported on hold yesterday, now are just
in doubt.
