A buddy of mine from my old days at USDOJ moved to the Virgin Islands and took a job with the USVI DOJ. He said he really enjoyed living and working down there.

My wife and I visited St John's on our honeymoon. If I remember correctly, Lawrence Rockefeller visited the island in the 50's, he loved it so much that he bought the island.
He then turned around and donated 75% of the island to the U.S. park system.
