Placing memory and logic on the same chip results in high performance, low power consumption. ZiVa could use this technology..............

Samsung to Sell Merged Memory
Logic Chips

December 1, 1997 (SEOUL) -- Samsung Electronics Co.,
Ltd. will export merged DRAM with logic (MDL)
microchips that combine both memory and logic circuits.

MDL chips feature low manufacturing costs as well as high speeds, low
power consumption and small sizes.

Samsung recently begun production of the new semiconductor, which
merges a 16Mb DRAM and a graphics chip into a single microchip.
This MDL chip operates like a super video graphics array (SVGA)
graphic board with a resolution of 1,024 x 768, the company said.

Samsung will export the chip to a U.S. producer of graphics boards.
However, Samsung declined to provide details of the export terms.

The new chip is valued at more than twice the combined price of
memory and nonmemory semiconductors.

The microchip company also said it plans to develop high-precision
MDL chips to be used in small communications devices, including
mobile phones. Samsung said it expects US$100 million in MDL chip
sales in 1998.
