"I just can't seem to find something that works 100%"

I'd say that not even a Buffett, or a Graham, or a Soros, or a Lynch found something that worked 100% (of the time).

What they managed to do was to accumulate an appreciable net wealth based on their wins far exceeding their losses, because they certainly had both gains AND losses.

If one can take a lead from any, or all, of those successful and experienced investors, and incorporate that into one's preferred style or risk appetite, then one would probably do more than well enough over time.

It's probably a case of not trying to re-invent the wheel. Rather take from those who have been at it a lot longer than we have, who have already done that, been there, bumped their heads dozens of times, and have finally arrived at a 'modus operandi' that has shown much net success.
