I do agree with Lindy though that automated vehicles will eventually be the standard. A century is probably a better guess.


I can see an application for automated driving for longer drives where one lane is dedicated and controlled for automated driving.

I think that this is being driven by a little bit of a future utopian blue-sky view of the world. And it ignores some very important risks. The risks can run from bugs and viruses in the local system to a variety of RF interferences (i.e. environmental, unintentional and malicious).

and as Lindy suggests, we love our cars. People like to drive. Robocars defy human nature.
