A thought occurred to me just now. If you think it could REALLY get bad where you are, and you don't have a lot of family around you, join a local "Community" church. They are really open-ended "Clubs" that don't require any special membership, except that you go along with their ideas, which are usually quite low key. It doesn't have to be a "hellfire and damnation" one Then be active enough that they accept you as "family."

Then, if things so south, you have a family group to help you out, in exchange for your help. Practical? Yes. And a good fall back if you get in trouble. You don't want to be running over there for help when they are already rioting in the streets.

"Nobody knows" when it will blow up

This is one of the reasons why I would like to see Romney/Ryan elected. Compared to the current bunch, they are, at the very least, sane and competent. It is not impossible, if they win, that Ben may read them the riot act, and they may elect to try giving the old can another few kicks. [Edit - if Ben keeps the job, that may be a sign that the new WH is buying into the "strategy".]

Building a "cargo cult" plane on the beach strikes me as a viable option. I'm getting ready to move in that direction... :)
