There is the general trend that show Americans moving to places that more reflect their ideological preferences.......that's the macro side of it. Then there is the micro reality where a major Dem anchor in MO, St. Louis, is losing population and industry like a sieve. Ok, thanks...well, it's certainly impacting where I want to live next...

Do have some stats on that, and stats that break things down for reasons to move? There are stats on what is sometimes referred to as the reverse migration in terms of Black Americans moving back to the south, Atlanta being one big destination. Texas is growing in population for many reasons, one being jobs, another being cost of living. A lot of people move because of jobs and because of cost of living. There is hardly anywhere in CA I could afford to ever live again. There was the time, long time, of glbts moving to places like SF. But aside from cost, as the nation becomes more accepting (and note that people didn't move to all places in CA, there were small pockets moved to), that starts to change, even with people moving from the large expensive urban areas. I live now in a dinky TX town and despite polls on opinions and despite loud bluster by some, I have no troubles at all here. I know women who have moved to small towns in Oklahoma and TN, also, and love it, and they can afford to live there. The loss of dems in somewhere like St. Louis, I'd want to know the make up of those moving, and where they're moving and why.
