jim, yes, this is old news out last tueasday or wednesday.
but, it never said cpq had 70% of the sub 1k market FOR 3Q97.
ANY ARTICLE YOU MAY HAVE READ THAT INDICATES THIS IS INCORRECT.

I'm tracking down an incorrect ad right now that could be okay that says that cpq has a K6-AMD low cost pc now.
this is the issue and your mis-statement.
I mis state things at times.
I just say I flubbed up.
I guess those words don't exist in your vocab.<ggg>
are you and meathead cousins.
they probably had 70% of the sub 1k market for sept..
but it was lower than that alliitle in august, and I posted where it took 3 players to have 55% on that market in july.

The report at the link you posted is supported by my observations at a Circuit City store this weekend. HP and Packard Bell have new sub $1000 models that are underselling CPQ. I saw one for less than $600 that had a 200 Mhz Pentium processor.
