The poster also forgets, in his zeal to bash Meg, that she's trying to rescue the company from the failures of Leo Apotheker and Mark Hurd, the former who wanted to dump whole product lines in which HP was/is the global leader and the latter having slashed spending on R&D, in addition to everything else. Meg has not been there long enough to judge, especially considering that she had to start her tenure in damage control mode.

Also lost in the rush to bash are that, AIUI (I didn't see it, but my wife did), yesterday's presentation also included some damn cool product introductions and demos.

In addition, remember that HP is very much a global company and much of the globe is sucking wind economically right now. Even the US.

Finally, even the sharply reduced guidance does not justify the valuation here. We're now trading at about 4 times the slashed 2013 (non-GAAP) earnings guidance.
