I was a futures broker with Merrill Lynch in the 80's with a VP position, we were able to move the markets, in fact we had some of the markets close for 5 to 20 minutes at a time to sort out the orders, our volume was mammoth... we manipulated the feeder cattle market for a few days... we traded orange juice with Tropicana as our client, we traded cocoa and sugar with Hershey's as our client, and so on... at that time, Merrill was the world's largest self owned brokerage firm and our clients were also giants... they wanted to be sure their money was with a company at least as large as they were... of course, Merrill has since gone broke due to pathetic management, and they deserve what they got...
