I just don't get the complaints against Lehrer. My liberal facebook friends started flipping out immediately that the moderator wasn't doing his job. IMO, staying out of the way and letting the candidates go at each other is his job, and he did it just fine.

It was a real debate, for a change.

There is a MSM solution for minimizing damage to Obama. Moderator: "This debate will consist entirely of yes/no questions."

He could only have done better if he had had more time and could REALLY have gotten into his subjects.

Therein lies the issue - the moderators in the next two debates are going to try to keep a lid on it, not let Romney go over his time. Where Lehrer said, "Mr. Romney, what do you say to what President Obama said," you'll have, "Ding! Time's up. Next question is..."

Recall that Bob Shieffer is the moderator for the last debate.
