And benefited greatly by Bogle creating Vanguard and the first index fund. Index funds had more to do with GE's stock price rise to over $500 billion than what Welch or GE actually did. Funds were practically required to buy it. Great for Welch, whose record ended on 9/10/2001 when Immelt became CEO. Bad timing for Immelt.

But the decline in GE (over the past 11 years) puts in focus why Ryan and privatizing Social Security are tricks with hidden traps.

Jack Welch has created a reputation as a mean, scum of the earth guy. This will be his legacy: accusing BLS cooking the books. Jack Welch cooked the books when he was CEO of GE.


His personal life was pretty disgusting as well...........and yet, he is still revered as a titan of American industry. I hope this latest example of his chicanery brings him down.
