AVNT. Compass acquisition-If I remember correctly I think AVNT said that the real value in Compass was in 1)thier installed place and route business (ie. AVNT's ability to upgrade from Compass P&R to Aquarius or Apollo, something like 600-800 seats potentially) and 2)Compass's design libraries for system on a chip. Anyone remember anything else?

I am told that Avnt! aquired Compass to get access to their seats, which because of the age of compass products would need to be updated soon. Asensio reports suggests that there there might have been some kind of deal for VLSI to buy Avant products in exchange for Avant buying Compass. They also feel Avanti didn't disclose the full cost of the aquisition and that Avant over paid.
