It's a matter of degree, but yes. You see, bombing Iran is something I want to avoid, but unlike the Democrats, I do believe that the US cannot allow Iran to get a nuclear bomb. If we have to go to war to stop that, then I believe we must do it. I'm just like Chinu in that I believe we must avoid war if at all possible and stop being the global police. However, I believe a nuclear Iran will export nuclear bombs to terrorists and also ignite a nuclear arms race in the Middle East, with all of our key enemies acquiring a nuclear bomb. Therefore, we must never let Iran have a nuclear bomb. However, I believe we have time to negotiate and try other things before we have to go to war. For example, I think the sanctions are working. It's softening them up for a negotiation. Romney's no fool. He'll be able to use that when he gets access to the full set of information that Obama has.

However, I do believe that Bernanke is even more dangerous than Achmadenijad. The amount of instability that Bernanke is causing worldwide in our financial systems is such that, it is not just an economic problem for the US. It is literally becoming a national security issue. A destabilized and economically weak US that is also exporting inflation to other countries, which are less able to deal with it than us, pours gasoline on the fire around the world and could lead to another world war. I'm not the only one who thinks so. The Pentagon and others in our military are studying the effects of currency debasement on global stability and preparing contingency plans. Read about WWI and WWII from an economic perspective. I suggest you read Mises. He in particular talks quite a bit about how monetary policy exacerbated festering issues that contributed to an eruption of global total war. At the root of most conflicts is money. To deny this is to deny human nature. Bernanke is playing with one of the most fundamental things in civilization: the money supply and the stability of it. He is playing with fire.

I understand that most people don't think in those macro terms, but I do, and it gives me a very different perspective. That's why I think most of our political discourse is stuck in silly season conversations, rather than the most fundamental and pertinent issues facing our country.

Bernanke needs to go.
