Obama: Debate prep can be 'a drag'

10:59AM EST October 2. 2012 -

With President Obama holed up in a Nevada resort for debate practice, things can get pretty boring on the White House beat right now.

Pretty boring for Obama too, apparently.

"Basically they're keeping me indoors all the time," Obama told a supporter on the phone during a visit to a Las Vegas area field office.

"It's a drag," he added. "They're making me do my homework."

To be sure, Obama also said he had a "great prep" yesterday, and "it was a lot of fun."

The president brought a half-dozen pizzas with him to the field office, and thanked volunteers for their get-out-the-vote efforts.

"I know everybody has been working really hard," he said.

Obama then stumbled on the number of days until the election -- "what is it, 34?" he said, before being given the correct number, 36.

"So whatever it is," Obama said, "it's really coming up quick and obviously Nevada is going to be critical to this fight. Nevada's going to be close. It's going to be close all across the country. And obviously we've got the debates coming up. There are going to be a number of other things we can't expect over the next couple of weeks."

Bernanke is a Republican too, if I remember correctly. That doesn't matter. There are two types of Republicans when it comes to fiscal and monetary policies. There are the fiscal and monetary liberals, which is what Greenspan and Bernanke, and the whole Congressional GOP crew today. But then there are the fiscal and monetary conservatives: Bush Sr, Gingrich, Volcker, Libertarians like Ron Paul. I count myself a fiscal and monetary conservative and I believe Austrian economics best describe the world we live in. I may vote on both sides of the aisle, but when it comes to economics, I'm always a conservative.
