I believe increasing lifespans are a certainty. Given this possibility, how do SS and Medicare need to change?
That really depends on a lot of things, such as how long people want to work, how much quality of life they want in their retirement, how much government should contribute, what's the minimum that should be provided that prevents poor old people from being tossed out onto the street, etc.

These are tough questions, but there is a huge part of the population that doesn't want these questions asked, much less answered.
