Could there be a huge upset brewing in Pa? Smith needs to get Casey in a televised debate. I heard Smith on Levin's radio show and he came across FANTASTICALLY well. I was most impressed. I think he would turn quite a few heads in a debate. This guy is the quintessential "citizen" legislature. Backed by DeMint's Senate Conservative Fund, I'd love to see Smith get some Republican party $$. The Casey lead is down to single digits. It is NOT TOO LATE!

Cook Political Report Upgrades PA Senate RaceWritten by Keegan Gibson, Managing Editor

The Cook Political Report has joined the National Journal and the Washington Post in promoting Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate race from likely Democrat to lean Democrat.

Republican Tom Smith has run television ads across Pa. for weeks and has made a dent in Sen. Bob Casey’s polling lead. Facing an average polling deficit of 15 points a month ago, now Smith trails by 7 or 8 points.

Here’s the writeup from the Cook Political Report:

The Bottom Line:

Democratic Sen. Bob Casey has cultivated the kind of voting record in the Senate that earns him very few enemies. It also makes it difficult to run against him. Still, Republicans nominee Tom Smith, a self-made wealthy businessman who has not hesitated to put his own money into the race, has aired a barrage of television ads and has succeeded in denting Casey’s armor. Polling shows that Smith has pulled within single digits of the incumbent, who now seems more focused on the race and has started to attack Smith as a “Tea Party extremist”in television ads. While Casey maintains an advantage in the race, it is now worth watching. It is in the Lean Democratic column.

>> I just heard Dick Morris on FOX claim he saw a recent Pa poll from a pollster he trusts that has Romney leading in Pa.
If that is true, unless something happens to turn things around, this race is OVER. I think we need to watch for confirmation of this.

I wouldn't underestimate the ability of Obama to turn it around. I WISH the lying, negative, smear job campaigns didn't work but the reality is they do. Some highly intelligent people who I respect have been sucked in by it.

Until he's 10 points down in PA I won't be comfortable with it ;)

OTOH, the more desperate they get, the more desperate they seem.
