I would recommend a Glock 31. You want to permanently stop an intruder, so that he doesn't become angry and come back later for revenge. The main idea here is to permanently stop him. -ng- Take a safety course, join a gun range or shooting club, and practice, practice, practice. I do not know what the laws are in your state, but I would look into a concealed carry permit, if legal. Involve your wife and family in the outings. Ensure that everyone is comfortable handing their weapons, and that they do so in a safe and responsible manner. Ensure that they are not afraid to defend themselves and their home(s) against miscreants who mean to seriously hurt or kill them and those they love. Just my 2 cents... -vbg-
