Russia to sell strategic Sukhoi Log Gold mine in Siberia

The government's own estimates say the project would take 12 years to develop at a cost of 49 billion rubles ($1.5 billion).

Only a couple of $billion though which is tiny compared with the $triliions floating around, so that isn't going to replace $ at anything like the current exchange rate.

Rather than replace US$ with gold, which would be difficult since few of the electorate or those wielding machetes have gold, or money to be swapped for gold, it would be easier to do as Iceland did. Or, alternatively, reset the debts and retask $ savings to "the greater good" rather than leaving savings in individual coffers. The reset could be at 1:10 new dollars for old. A fiscal cliff should lead to such adjustments.

Note to self, do not hold many $$$s under the mattress and do not hold debt either as abrogation of debt as per Saddam Hussein's debts, Iceland's borrowings and Greece's shortcomings suggest loans might not be recognized in full, or at all.

fabulous, nearly time for zero-state monetary reset, and the 3,000 tons, about one year's mine production, should trade should dispense w/ perhaps a few hours, after the russians manage to get the mine up and operating, which should be about 7 years if they are actually any good at the task while working on that crater of industrial diamonds

I get about $130 billion at $1700 per oz. Are you anticipating a crash in gold's price :)
