My writing is shorter, and I would say I have less optimism for the near term. The lower optimism may be a mistake, with a longer time frame, however. There is a lot of debt and malinvestment that needs to be worked off around the world. Voters in most democracies have a hard time coming to grips with economic reality. There is some positive news for oil and natural gas (fracking of shale, pre salt) Graphene and other 2-D structures have great promise for power electronics. There is significant progress on a large number of diseases. Internet classes like Kahn Academy will help improve education for the motivated.
