>> Let's start at the airport...

Since I always drive to Memphis, I can't say I've been through that airport more than once or twice. But the south/west side of the airport down to Shelby Dr. and over to (Hwy 61) is an area I don't like -- I drive through there commonly, but don't generally stop.

Truth is, in Memphis I'm usually either downtown or around Germantown, which aren't horrible areas anyway.

One Friday night I had to go to Memphis late to be there Saturday morning to deal with a network problem. I got there and couldn't find a room and ended up having to stay out south of town in a dump that "gave me their last room" for $200. You really need a weapon of some kind out there.

The only reason Los Angeles isn't on the list is that it is such a large area with so many people. But there are areas in L.A. that are as dangerous as any of the worst neighborhoods in the world.

And Oakland wasn't on the list? wow!
