Here's a macro sense of what is going on this country. I think the shoe fits....

-------------
The Self-Destruction of the 1 Percent

Agree 100%, almost. That's why I posted that yesterday at 4AM:

What's the solution is the question. A lot of the equality that we got in the 40's, 50's 60's came from the GI Bill, supported by huge upper tax brackets. That would work again... free college. But you would have to tax the crap out of the rich folks.

Your Republicans probably wouldn't support that....

That was posted without the picture yesterday.

People are mobile and the top 1%, 3%, 10% are more mobile than the bottom.

Chrystia Freeland is in a time warp. I think the bottom are more mobile than she thinks, it's more mobile for women, more mobile in Syria, more mobile throughout the world, more mobile for minorities. It's not more mobile for those who think they are stuck where they were when they were born.

It's ironic because she worked in the U.K. and for the Financial Times, and now lives in New York working for Reuters. What she did, anyone can do.

That's actually one of the 2-3 good subjects and answers for Obama to give tomorrow. He can have messages of hope and mobility without using those words. Speaking to Americans but at the same time beyond our borders.

That's also what he can do in his second term.

So retail sales jumped 1.1% last month. If people don't have jobs, if those who have jobs are worried about the economy, then where do they get the money to buy the items such as iPhones etc. Does it look like the unemployment numbers are cooked? Does it look like people feel they are worse off today?

Arm chair statistical analysis devoid of links to the situation on the ground does not have much value.
