I've done business process improvement almost my entire career, with a heavy emphasis on operations and statistics. I know direct a team of these kinds of specialists. As I've said before, with these kinds of reports, it is critical to do three things: * watch the trends, not the data point * make sure you understand the assumptions and underlying data * keep your eye on the unadjusted data to make sure your assumptions don't lead you down the wrong path My entire career has prepared me to see beyond the surface numbers of things, and I have to tell you, some of these numbers just aren't telling the real story of the economy.
