We took the TGV in 2005, so we didn't see much of Bordeaux. The drive-through took place in 1996 (when we got a little off-track) and again in 1997. And I do remember that the buildings were not as nice as those in your photos. As for the Garonne, I remember seeing a small ruined castle just to the left of the autoroute as we were about to cross the big bridge coming into the city.
