What are the fundamental moving this market? Well low interst rates and reduction in fear of the Asian collapse (justified? I am not sure, but it seems that to the extent that treasuries are being sold to reliquify the Asian systems it is done gradually and the market is absorbing it well).

It's not reduction in fear of the Asian collapse. It's that the collapse occured last week and there's no real news this week. As a character on a popular TV show says, "Bygones. Fast Forward." Nowadays, no news means an upward movement. The entire stock market is one giant momentum play right now. We all know how momentum plays end, but we just don't know when.

Hey Zeev: Smart comments about getting out from in front of the
train. Seems more like a cyclone (blowing every which way). I too
have lightened up on techs, gold, and other assorted, Added
some "value sm. caps" and long term zeros. If we don't have
inflation??? Then I'm misreading the price of the DJIA...deflation???
Look at the price of "real money" = gold. This is a very good time
to have chips off the table. Even when I was a broker (in simpler
times) it was difficult to make money on the short side: all the news
tends to go-against you....MLPF&S is not going to scream "sell"....
we know that. Plus, as some have intimated on these threads - "it's
un-amercan to short" <g>. Thanks for your input. Don

<< Another cheerful note is the Christmas season which appears to be starting fine. >>

I spent the Thanksgiving weekend with my girlfriend touring the malls of Santa Barbara. Easy to park. Light shopping. I don't believe the early reports - retail had a light weekend.

Of course, shopping's not all we did.... We discussed the market too!
