I agree, this is stupid.

Sure, there were a couple of months when things bobbled around. And the airline industry was crippled for longer than that. It was very rough on NYC, with thousands of lost small business and billions in lost income.

But the GDP still grew at about the same rate per quarter that year, except for Q3.Q4 made up for it. And the growth was still higher than it was in the early Clinton administration.

So, yes. Body slam is a vast overstatement.

And remember, the tax cut was passed in June of that year. There really was no discernible change in growth rate until late in 2002.
