Hi Don, my concern with Novell is that the longer they wait to sell, the less it will be worth. I'd bet they would have to accept about 15 - 20% less now than a year ago this time. It seems to quickly be reaching the point where no one will want it. Why pay cash instead of waiting around and picking up pieces for nothing.
Moab may be the best NOS out of the gate ever, but Novell has always had the best products...by far IMO. Justifying an upgrade or outright purchase in Novell will become increasingly difficult due to the "down the tubes" mindset that seems to be spreading like the plague. Who wants to buy into a perceived dying company when they can buy into MSFT? Baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and MSFT. MSFT will get the enterprise right sooner or later, and Novell has provided the time to do so.

This unfortunately is what the Novell techs just can't seem to understand...and management, well, the "what, me worry" attitude may hold up long enough for Bradford and others to finish selling off their stock. Gates won't lose this battle, he'll probably end up funding an attempt at a turnaround for Novell as they are selling off the real estate that they're in the process of developing and the corporate jet.

Young/Schmidt vs Gates. Who would you vote for...at least in terms of winning the battle? A no-brainer. MSFT has made NT their top priority. Novell is busy moving employees around and designing their two new campuses. I hate MSFT. I hate Novell. I think I like Gates better than Young. Can't believe I said that.
