And yes, corporations are coming in pretty light this quarter. Care to explain the discrepancy? I can tell you why the discrepancy. Unemployment figures you see for September are lagging indicators of employment. Corporate earnings sliding is a leading indicator of employment. Not good.

I don't know what corps you mean other than the ones which you posted; ones that are primarily rooted in the PC industry, an industry that has been flagging for two quarters now. For an example, Costco beat expectations this quarter and reported excellent profits while Nordstroms did well against a strong quarter last year.
