ElM, the USA did a bit more than move volumes of money and clip the ticket. You have heard of Qualcomm, Microsoft, Apple, Oracle, IBM, Google, and swarms of others [and that's just in the Cyberspace sector]. Then there are swarms of biotechs and mining and services and all sorts.

Having the US$ was a handy help though, with enormous profits of control.
