>>>One MAX TNT can terminate 192 analog calls (pretty sure that's the number), so a single MAX TNT's density is actually less than a single Total Control Hub's density. Three TNTs can be linked together under a single management system.

The Cisco AS5300 can terminate 96 analog calls. Even though Cisco's press releases say "up to 120", thats only correct in Europe where a U.S. T1 line (capable of 24 analog calls) is called an E1 line capable of 30 calls. AS5300 has capacity for 4 T1/E1 connections, so it can terminate 96US/120European calls.<<<

Since you mentioned the AS5300's 4 T1/E1 lines, I believe I have some semblance of what you're talking about. But according to an article I'm looking at on my desk, your figure for the ASND MAX TNT's total sum of concurrent users, is off by a substantial margin. Let me quote the relevent paragraph from Eric Dubin's 10/1 article "How to Descend on Ascend" found on MS Investor:

--->> Although Cisco's AS5300 is capable of higher data throughput rates per user than Ascend's MAX TNT, the AS5300 is only capable of supporting four T1/E1 interfaces as compared to 150 in the MAX TNT. In English, that means the MAX TNT is capable of supporting more users concurrently, with the basic configurations boiling down to 672 users as opposed to 120 users for the AS5300. <<---

This suggests that the ASND MAX TNT, is indeed, far denser than the Total Control Hub -- far denser even, than any of the competition's top-line offerings. And with the new TNT coming out Q1/98 with triple the ports, ASND long-jumps its lead even further ahead of the competition. Providing of course that I am following the context of what we are discussing here...I am far from being a techie when it comes to the intricacies of networking products, but this is what I seem to have concluded from my articles.
