Sure, but all of the new products are going to non-Samsung LCD suppliers and none of them have nearly the track record of bringing cutting edge technologies to market with huge volumes in a short time frame. Samsung wasnt Apple's primary LCD supplier by accident. There is a price to be paid for moving to 2nd tier manufacturers.
The iPhone 5 panel, which does represent a technical breakthrough both in terms of quality and in incorporating the touch screen with the display, doesn't come from Samsung, right?

Samsung has been ahead of the curve in OLED screens, which Apple doesn't use.

I agree that their manufacturing capabilities are prodigious, and I also think Apple understands the capabilities of all their various suppliers very well. So I'm not worried about the moves they make in that regard.
