November or December depending on the model.

Kids nowadays - so impatient!

MAybe no iMacs because they're using all that glass for the iPads?

Wave magic wand and convert to touch sensitive, I know.

At a minimum Apple should allow preorders. An availability time of "November" certainly isn't precise.
Yeah I was discussing this with Allen this morning and thought it was silly as well but then I had a moment of devine inspiration and thought:

Well maybe this makes sense since once the new versions were announced people would stop ordering the old model and they would just sit in inventory until Apple dumped them.

They probably slowly stopped manufacturing the older model and depleted the stock and will allow pre-order to start closer to release date.

If people want and older model they can still get a refurbished version directly from Apple or one from as third party source.

Older models sold through those sources still help Apple's sales figures and the people that want them will order as soon as they are available.

Might slow the numbers for the quarter or not depending on when they are actually released which I suspect will be long before Black Friday deals.
