Been thinking about this. I think what we may be witnessing is the right wing not just playing the southern strategy, but expanding it to include latino's's for the first time. The right wing is losing on all fronts except old white men. African American's, latino's, women and kids. So the Wasps racism is being appealed to by the likes of that vile Sununu. <<but the other day he was not so vulgar and pointed out that the reason Obama is losing is that whites have become comfortable with their racism again. The staggering losses of white support in the polls since 08 make me think he may be right.... I think he's right for way too big a percent of the population, including some who post on this thread. Subtle or subliminal racism, whatever, is back in vogue for some. A badge of "courage". And, unfortunately, it's impossible to fight. That gut prejudice will never be influenced by logic. They're proud of it.
