I worked for United HealthCare in the late 90's for about a year. We handled employee group health policies and I would take calls explaining to people what was covered and what their cost would be. A woman called, waited on hold for a while and got me to answer her question. She was having SEVERE chest pains and wanted to know if a emergency room visit would be covered. Of course it was. Why would you waste time like that when you could be having a heart attack?

Jori, Is it worth it to get a job where you have group coverage just so you have insurance? Many people do it. And, many people do not have coverage or are able to find work. With globalization and the shift to the informational age requiring knowledge of robotics and digital technology many individuals do not have the skill sets to perform the skill which are now required. Plus, the cost for getting a technical or college degree is very costly today and out of reach of many individuals revenues. Sad, but true. The problem is that liberals don't want to sacrifice anything while still demanding everything that they want. Well, guess what, that ain't how life works. You can't go to college and get a degree in finger painting and then go out on your own peddling your "art" where you make $10 a week such that you can't afford food let alone health insurance and then expect the world to want to cater to your petty little dreams. If you want health insurance, then find a way to make enough as an individual so that you can buy whatever insurance you want. If you can't make enough on your own, get a job with a corporation that has group plans and be responsible for your own damn life. You must be retired and not familiar to the real work world at this time.
