The iPad is easy to type on, but it's nothing like typing on a real keyboard. Come to think of it, the aluminum and chiclet style keyboards supplied with the aluminum iMacs are not like typing on real keyboards, either. You get used to either one, though.

I've been told that there is a way to plug in and use a USB2 keyboard with the iPad, though I haven't tried it. There are ones that connect through bluetooth all over the net, so your options are not limited.

As far as voice recognition, itunes.apple.com

I haven't used it, though. Probably should give it a try. It's free. I think I'll put it on my iPad and give it a try. Thanks for piquing my interest!

So is the i-pad easy to type on and is there any voice recognition software worth anything that works on it?

Voice recognition is built into iOS six. In fact I'm speaking this reply right now. There's a button for voice input right on the keyboard.
