Jori, Yup, classic example of where union workers have priced themselves out of jobs. Once they start getting greedy, it makes sense for owners of businesses to do the large financial outlay to bring in automation. I guess in a sense that unions have been good for our economy in that they have forced businesses to embrace technology as a way to avoid union workers.

Sorry, but the tire manufacture plant in Illinois is "non-union." According to my nephew, they were able to keep out the union by paying them better, offer better benefits and working conditions than the recruited employees previous employers. Therefore, the surrounding unions had no issues by which to organize around to form a union. But, the unions were able to provide the incentives to drive up non-union wages, benefits and working conditions. However, this tire plant is owned by a Japanese company with a Japanese style of management. Guess insourcing of other companies does work in the US. The same condition is happening to my step daughter and son-in-law which is owned by a Japanese company.
