If you decide that you do not want something, do you walk back to the shelf you took it from or do you place it on the nearest shelf and walk away. When you are the last person to leave a room in your house, do you turn off the lights? In your office, do you make the effort to turn off the light in a meeting room that is not occupied. Better still, if you are running a meeting, do you erase the chalkboard after the meeting. Easy answers, I would never pick up a piece of merchandise from the floor someone else dropped, or return an item to where i picked it up, I simply surrender the item to the manned cashier at check out. You see, the grocery store hires people to do that. It is someone's job. It provides employment to someone who wants a job. We do most of our trading at Trader Joes in La Jolla, my nephew works there as a relocation engineer. If I drop something then it is my personal responsibility to pick it up. We always go to the manned cashier and never to the "self-checkout" at stores, Trader Joes doen't even have them, so we like that. We always ask for "Help out to the car" from a bagger and give them a nice tip. I am not interested in providing the Supermarket increased efficiencies to increase profits by working for them. I return the shopping cart to the buggy area in the parking lot to prevent damage to others property, but would never take it back inside the store. Chalkboard? What century are you living in? We use electronic boards. Chalkboards create health issues. Lights are on motion detectors. When in Del Mar, or Maui, the Mrs's and I usually go to the beachh and pick up trash for an hour or so on the weekends. I am mostly retired. PCSTEL
