After all the Govt. has to ensure that if not then our minimum we not only have equal opportunities but also that we all have a minimum standard of living. A govt. very different from that in India, Vietnam, Phillipines etc. Isn't that what "minimum wage" is? The person is making $13.50 an hour part-time. I offered him $13.50 40 hours a week, plus health insurance. He said he does better at 20 hours with the Government programs. Now it's my "duty to society" to pay the part-time employee more in order to outbid the Governments offer to NOT WORK? Something is wrong here folks. Maybe I should just let the guy go, and hire someone who wants the job? In CA it is a long process to qualify for Section 8 housing assistance. Once you are on the payroll, you don't want to disqualify yourself. That is what he explained to me. ??? So much for that "Duty to Society" Like I said.
