Okay, it worked!!! Now the "other" information space on my profile shows a beating heart. I sure could not have done it without your very specific assistance (and almost not even then)!! However, I don't want you to think I have been sitting in front of my computer in a catatonic state since Sunday, trying to get the broken clicky thingy fixed. Instead, I decided to just totally avoid the issue and give it some space or something.

Not that I've been cleaning house or anything practical, either!!! My daughter asked for a redecorated bedroom for Christmas, yellow walls with a lavender flowered comforter. I have been dragging my sorry self all over northern California, from factory outlet to overpriced department store to discount store bargain bin, on several separate expeditions. Finally I gave up, since lavender flowers do not seem to be in vogue.

In desperation I took her with me, and now its all hand-quilted pale pink and blue small squares with green and yellow accents, half the bed covered with huge, ruffled pillows, and pink walls. At least it's all picked out, and we do not have to repaint her room, since it's already pink. After a lifetime of seeking out pink, she said last week that it now gives her a headache, but I guess that was a fleeting emotion which has passed.

What is it with fourteen-year-old girls, anyway? I had to talk her out of a room done totally in Pooh bears--comforter, sheets, curtains--using the argument that she would be tired of it very soon, although Santa will be bringing a Pooh throw blanket and a Pooh teddy for her to snuggle with, both surprises. Having never grown up yet, is she already regressing? I think teenagehood must be very stressful these days. The baggy unisex clothing seems to be another way for these older children to hide themselves, or perhaps cocoon themselves while they grow into more adult selves.

Incidentally, PLEASE, everyone, even if you don't think your children could possibly be doing drugs, talk to them about them anyway. There is an epidemic of heroin deaths in San Francisco and lots of other places from drugs that are so pure that simply snorting them can kill. Here is just a horrendous tale of recent heroin deaths in children who never injected the drugs in a place where children seemingly have wonderful lives, Plano Texas:

Anyway, thanks very much for the heart, Carol. I hope I don't get sick of it, because it seems a little technical. I almost chose the dancing dollar sign, but since there hasn't been any dancing in my portfolio since May of 1996, it seemed hypocritical or something.
