Forestall is staying on until sometime next year as an advisor to Cook.

This sounds to me like Forestall is not getting "kicked" out, more like a mutual agreement, after disagreeing for some time.
This sounds, to me, like letting the guy down easy, keeping him on the payroll for a while, and making it look like they don't just want him out on his ass. But of course I don't really know.
