Keep in mind that most decent ISPs have multiple routes to the backbone, and the route out of your ISP make take a different path depending on your ultimate destination. It all depends on how they have optimized their routing tables, and it can change from one day to the next. David, You made an excellent point. The cable modem ISP here uses Sprintnet, MCI net and UUnet. The trace will vary depending upon the traffic at the time on each backbone. Often my upstream goes through Sprintnet and Downstream goes through MCInet. Glenn
