They sat at a country airport near where I live during that time, just rotting away. When I'd drive by them they sat in rows as far as the eye could see. We were astonished every time we drove by there at the absolute waste of money.

When the finally auctioned them off they weren't worth having.

The one part of Katrina that Bush really screwed up was the money. There was such a panic to respond after the local officials screwed it up so badly that the money was just flitted away. Sickening.
