I agree, but you are missing my point. If we don't pay down a single cent of our debt during the longest period between recessions in our Countries history - but instead significantly increase the debt - we never will pay it down. Krugman says we will, history says he is wrong, demographics guarantees he is wrong. edit; Clinton had everything in his favor - the peace dividend, demographics hitting their peak earning years and new technology unseen since the industrial revolution and even then he couldn't pay off one cent - how in the world do we do so today when all of these issues (and politics) have turned on us?

I disagree that republicans are the problem - both parties are! But even if I assume for a second that republicans are the problem - then capitalism has failed. Orrrr maybe I should say democracies have failed since we vote republicans into office. You are not dealing with reality of politics!

Sooooo, how does the debt get paid down?
