Personally I'm thinking the latter. I see from today's price that the street thinks something more like the former. To me incorrect perceptions are where the money is made.
I think a lot of small retail investors have piled into AAPL recently, and these are weak hands. They may be responsible for a lot of the action today. Not sure I really believe that the analysts see the changes as a big negative.

More often, incorrect perceptions are where the money is lost.
