Inode, I agree that the re-election of Obama will not be good for this nation, but consider this. Every single aspect of your "doomsday" scenario is reversible. The only question is how long it will take and how much pain will it cause.

Then there's the question of whether Romney will actually be any better than Obama. I agree he can't be any worse, but if the delta between the two is small, then the stakes in this election aren't as great as everyone especially in the media says it will be.

Meanwhile, Congress has an approval rating that is lower than that of Octomom, yet how many incumbents will be re-elected next week? Too many.

There's a point where even smaller government advocates start putting too much faith into politicians to try and fix this mess. The mess is there because way too many people want it to be there or even benefit from it. And I can give you so many examples from both sides of the aisle where this is true.
