Some assistance with major disasters is called for and I have no problem with it. But we call in FEMA for events that just don't warrant it. We have now reached a point where people DEMAND that FEMA take care of them.

I may have posted this here last night, but I saw a post from a NY'er within 24 hours of the storm saying, "WHERE THE HELL IS FEMA?" I'm not sure what she thought FEMA was going to do, but how about getting off your ass and dealing with your own problem?

We've created a society of helpless children. When something bad happens, they cry out for someone to take care of them.

That concept is foreign to me.
