The Left held absolute power from 2008-2010 and did every crazy thing it wanted to do, after being exiled in the political wilderness for many years and FINALLY (at long last) having the ability to put into real-life practice every insane scheme these people concocted in academia since the Carter administration.

We all know what happened next, because Americans saw how far Left the Democrats veered and punished the party at the polls in the midterm elections. That was just a warmup, though, because on November 6th voters are going to decimate the Democrat Party with the largest rebuke in modern American political history. The Left’s pretending this isn’t happening because there never was a “Plan B” for these people; their whole operating agenda is predicated on the fact that the lefties are so much smarter than the rest of the country and that the way they intend to transform America (into a more European socialist style of country where the government decides what’s best for people) must be forced on Americans so that they can ultimately see how great it all is.

The Left has normally maneuvered behind the scenes in quiet ways, pushing a little socialism here and the destruction of family units there…but under Obama they were allowed to not only let their masks slip but remove them completely and go absolutely hog wild during the Obama regime.

The Left never anticipated defeat because it thought once it had the levers of power it would never allow them to slip away again…and the Left didn’t anticipate Americans YANKING back that power (and hopefully never again in our lifetimes allowing the Left to have it again).

This is one of the reasons I keep telling people to stop using the word “liberal”, despite the fact that many conservative writers and popular pundits toss it around all the time. ”Liberal” is what the Democrats want to be called, because it seems much more appealing to the general public than calling Democrats what they really are, which is “Leftists” or “lefties” Democrats are adroit at PR and marketing and for many years they were allowed to do everything they pleased because the American public bought their lies that they really weren’t Marxists and that they didn’t really intend on wrecking the economy and radically transforming the nation. So they started calling themselves “liberals” because that sounds great to low-information voters…in the way that hearing your house was visited by delightful “hug-a-bugs” was more melodious than being told by an exterminator that you were suffering a cockroach infestation. You are a damn fool if you still call Democrats “liberals” because every time you do that it’s like contributing $5.00 to the Obama campaign in free advertising and brand-management. I love Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter, but they’re fools too in this regard because their constant use of the word “liberal” on the air and in their books keeps reinforcing to Independent voters that Democrats aren’t as bad as conservatives claim they are…for the simple fact that “liberal” has such a nice, pleasing, “open to new ideas and tolerant of all things” vibe to it. In reality, Democrats want to force their radical views on you and empower the government to make all your decisions for you…and your calling them “liberals” helps them get away with that. If you would never call a cockroach a “hug-a-bug” to make it seem cuter then why on Earth are you still saying or writing “liberal”. Today is a great day to STOP THIS.

The next four years are going to be very interesting because once Obama is defeated there will be a power struggle in the Democrat ranks. Those loyalists who worked on Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign will attempt to take back control of the party, but the Obama people in charge now are not going to let go of the reins without a major fight. The battle’s going to be ultimately won in board rooms, where Bill and Hillary will convene meetings with the top donors and a long battle for funding streams will be waged…with the Clintons arguing, quite accurately, that the Democrat Party only wins when it hides the Leftists in the attic and basement and puts a milder, more moderate face on the party. The Clintons judiciously kept the Left at bay for many years and were successful in the White House because they never allowed the party’s mask to slip.

Leftists grew tired of being locked up in the attic and raged that they weren’t allowed to openly run the party. Their emergence into the open in 2008 was like the Morlocks coming up from the dark pits below and forgetting how completely revolting they were to most Americans. Obama’s Morlocks aren’t going to want to head back down into the shadows without a big fight…but I can’t imagine the people writing the checks to fund the Democrat Party are going to allow them to so openly proclaim Democrats to be the party of the Left and the transformation of America. 2010 already made the party’s funders skittish…but the 2012 debacle will force a lot of these millionaires and billionaires to realize that the Clinton way is the only one that really works. It is going to be major damage control mode starting November 7th…so it’s more important than ever that conservatives stop calling Democrats “liberals” since to survive the Democrat Party must soften its brand and make itself more appealing to Independents going forward. If we as conservatives consistently call these people “lefties” or “Leftists” then this just won’t happen.

Do not ever help Democrats repair the damage of the Obama years by allowing them to rebrand as a kinder, gentler, “more liberal” party when calling them Leftists forever will keep it in the minds of Americans that electing Democrats to national office is a bad thing.

When Obama won, the Left crowed that “See! We don’t need to move slow and we can be as openly communist as we want and people will be forced to take it!”.

The Left, through its propaganda arm in the Ministry of Truth that is the national media, declared the Tea Party to be a nonentity and has steadfastly ignored or ridiculed its existence…and the Left’s going to actually be stunned by its losses on November 6th because many lefties believe their own hype.

They actually convinced themselves that Americans would just meekly accept the Left’s takeover of this country and the destruction of America as we all knew it without a fight…and they believed that the Ministry of Truth could convince Americans they loved Obama more than life itself and that everything done to America in his name was just marvelous.

Of course, everyone who opposed Obama was branded a RAAAACIST! so that such opposition would be minimized due to the fact that people were so terrified for so long of being accused of racism for trying to stop the awful things the Left did to our country using a black man in the White House.

You can clearly see that putting a black man in office was key to the Left’s plan, since that fear of being called a racist for opposing him is what kept so many people from standing up to Obama from 2008-2010; you know in your heart that Obamacare would have never passed with a white president and that the Trillion Dollars in Wasted Stimulus spending would have been questioned if anyone other than a “historic black president” was in power at the time.

Leftists are crazy, and the loony things they dreamed up all those years out of power went over like lead balloons with the public…even though Obama’s race allowed all this to pass. Since the Left considered 2010 to be just a mild setback, I bet they’ll think 2012 is no different and will attempt to regroup November 7th in preparation to “take back control” in 2014 and 2016. Maybe they will even try to run Obama again, Grover Cleveland style — though I imagine his drug abuse will escalate after his loss and he’ll never be in shape for another campaign. It’s going to be fascinating to watch the moderate forces in the Democrat Party mount their offensive to oust the Obama Remnant from the DNC’s decision making tiers. This will be the Clinton Restoration faction’s chance to drag the party kicking and screaming back to the center…in preparation for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 bid for the presidency as a moderate.

I happen to love Hillary Clinton as a historical figure and on a personal level because the woman’s resilience and survival instincts have long fascinated me; I rooted for her since the early 90s and her scrappiness is something I find abundant in myself as well. She’s also a heck of a nice lady who I had lots of interaction with on a personal level back in the 2008 campaign. I think if she’d been allowed the nomination four years ago that she’d be cruising to an easy reelection right now…and that Barack Obama (who would have been her VP) would have been setup to win the presidency in his own right in 2016. Democrats would have had 12 or 16 years in the White House instead of just these four, and I don’t see how Republicans would have been able to stop them. Hillary would have kept the Left on a short leash and only allowed the occasional bit of craziness to break through…and very slowly the Left would have scored some of the things on its wish list over that span of three or four presidential elections with Democrats winning the White House and the Left’s agenda incrementally advancing.

It really was absolute folly for the Left to push Obama forward over Hillary and to insist the transformation of America happen so rapidly. This woke a new generation up to the dangers of putting Democrats in the White House and I don’t think there’s any way to walk this back in our lifetime. I love Hillary on a personal level and always will, but I’m never going to vote for a Democrat for any elected office ever again (not even her in 2016). I just don’t want these people in power because even the ones I personally like are too beholden to the Leftists that lurk in the shadows. Voting for a Democrat means voting to allow the Morlocks to run loose again…and this country barely survived the Obama Regime and can’t afford to have another close call like that.

No, for the rest of my life I am going to do everything I can to make sure we never have another Democrat president…and the first female Commander in Chief that we have in this country will be a Republican woman (which I hope happens in the next four or five election cycles). I think there are a lot of us former Hillary Democrats from 2008 who are permanently alienated from the party and who now want to watch it burn completely to the ground. In a lot of ways I feel like a character in a John Grisham book who realized the firm he worked for was evil and then realized he had to do whatever he could to bring it down so that it couldn’t hurt anyone anymore. That’s how I feel about the Democrat Party…and why I am so insistent that people stop using words like “liberals” that help these lunatics maintain a better public face with Independent voters. You should never, ever help Democrats with their PR and brand management because Americans need to know that Democrats are the party of Leftists who want to wreck the economy and use the fallout as cover to radically transform every aspect of American life. If you don’t want to see that happen, stop calling these people “liberals” and get on the case of any conservative writer you see using this term because those people are either fools or knowingly helping Democrats with their branding.

As an observer of politics, I am truly fascinated by what the four years ahead have in store. The Clinton Restoration is revving up, that’s totally clear. The Obama Remnant is comprised of very aggressive and Alinsky-trained loons who will not go quietly back into the night…and there’s a generation of college-aged radicals who loved being a part of Occupy Wall Street and won’t disappear the way the Clintons want them to. I think the next four years will be very ugly and that, though she’s going to try, Hillary Clinton will not be able to reconstitute the party convincingly as a moderate entity by 2016. I think she’ll end up as the Democrats’ nominee, but she won’t beat Mitt Romney in the next election. Provided Romney does everything I think he’s going to do, Hillary might not even want the nomination because she’ll know she can’t win if the country’s in an economic Romney recovery.

I love the woman and admire her resourcefulness and always will, but I have to say that I’m really loving Mitt Romney too…for different reasons. The guy is really kind of amazing, and is uniquely qualified to lead us in these difficult times. I honestly believe that Romney can save the country and that in doing so he’ll guarantee that Americans keep Democrats out of power for a very, very long time. That’s where I hope you come into the picture because as things start to get better under Romney our job will be to keep reminding people of how bad everything got with Obama and the Left in power. Though Democrats are going to attempt to rebrand under Hillary and claim that the party is moderate again, I want you to keep telling everyone that this is all just a trick and even before Obama lost the 2012 election this was the plan that was underway.

The Ministry of Truth is going to attempt to rewrite history in the next few years and pretend that nothing was as bad in the Obama Regime as we remember it, but I think Minitru’s going to lose more power as newspapers and magazines fail and writers in the new media gain wider respect. Another word I want you to all stop using is “blog” or “blogger” because this is what Minitru uses to diminish and disrespect those of us conservative voices who publish electronically (which is how EVERYONE is going to publish within five years). Calling a conservative writer a “blogger” is like calling a gay man a fag or a black person a n***er. I want you to start paying attention to this because you’ll see I’m right.

Just today, some jackass with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette made it a point to call me “a blogger” while simultaneously spelling my name wrong. He completely did this on purpose. This is a game that those employed in the dinosaur media play to diminish those of us who write from a conservative perspective in new media; they misspell our names to show how unimportant we are and call us “bloggers” the way some dismissively call gay guys “fags” or black people “n***ers”.

This is Minitru’s way of dividing writers into two camps: those who are part of Minitru are the “journalists” and “writers” while those who are independent of Minitru are just “the bloggers”. If you ever use the words “blog” or “blogger” you are a damn fool, and are as myopic as those using “liberal”. Words really do matter and people who take the time to construct sentences for publication deliberately use words in a particular way to cause a desired effect in public thinking. It’s really time to stop helping Minitru control the national conservation by allowing it to paint Democrats in a good light while constantly diminishing their critics in the conservative ranks of new media. If you’re someone who’d never in your life say “fag” or “n***er”, then stop diminishing conservative voices by saying “blogger”.

The role you can play in the days and years ahead is to start being aware of the words you use and the stories you decide to chase. Always ask yourself, every day, what Minitru’s agenda is in pushing whatever story’s blanketing MSNBC and the NY Times. Know that whatever they are putting out is designed to help Democrats in some way…and the challenge is just to figure out HOW that thing is helping them. From now through the election all the content pushed by Minitru is meant to either depress conservative turnout or keep the Left’s spirits up so that Obama doesn’t completely implode on November 6th. The game that Minitru is playing is to try to keep Obama’s loss as contained as possible so that Romney does not win in an all-out landslide of epic proportions.

Democrats have no delusion of winning this election…but at this point their aim is just to keep things close.

That’s why you’re going to see Minitru running nonstop stories of “how close things are in Ohio!” when that’s just a damn lie. Any conservative writer who tells you that Ohio is going to be close needs to suffer some professional consequences come November 7th because these people are just panicking Romney voters for no reason and giving them heart palpitations just because they can. If the campaigns are actually focusing on Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and even Oregon in the last week of this election then you know that Romney is going to win Ohio and win it big (I think it will be 54% Romney to 46% Obama in my home state…not even close). If you spot any conservative writer going on in the days ahead about how “Romney can still win without Ohio!” I really hope you email, Tweet, and comment on his site that he’s a damn fool to be pushing Minitru’s meme on this. Democrats are expert at psychological operations and Republicans are forever so clueless to being manipulated like this. I don’t know why this is, but conservatives always seem to be like the little kids left home alone with the bad older brother who messes with their heads constantly…but the kids never catch on to the fact that they’re being played all the time. The Left CONSTANTLY plays mind games with conservatives and gets them riled up into panics…and this is the distraction that Democrats typically need to succeed in something they’d fail at if only Republicans weren’t so distracted.

I’m amazed at how effective the Left is in this because my boyfriend Justin — who lives with me — wakes up every day and essentially forgets everything I’ve ever told him, like it’s Groundhog’s Day. He turns on his computer and the first word out of his mouth is usually MEEP! because he’ll read some story that a jackass has put out saying “Obama’s ahead in early voting in Ohio!” and Justin will go into full-on meltdown mode. He’ll wake me up and start going on about this, and I just ask him what site he’s reading. Sure enough, he’ll say it’s something written by Allahpundit at HotAir, Erick Erikson at RedState, Ben Shapiro at Breitbart, or Ace at Ace of Spades. Some of these guys panic people because they are paid to by Minitru and they serve as the Left’s Tokyo Roses in Republican ranks…while others, like Ace and Ben Shapiro, I think are just more foolish than anything. Allahpundit and Erikson are definitely being paid to foist propaganda on conservatives. I am 100% convinced of that because there’s just no other explanation for why these guys keep getting things so wrong…and it’s only wrong in ways that help Barack Obama. If you aren’t yet suspicious of those pushing the “Ohio’s close!” meme then you should be…because this is exactly what the Obama campaign WANTS conservative writers to be saying right now to panic Romney voters (and you will see on November 7th that Ohio was never close and this was just a giant mind-trick that conservative writers knowingly and willingly participated in because they assumed it would have no bad consequences for them after Romney won).

I don’t know how to stop people from being panicked and allowing the Left to launch emotional terrorism attacks on them all the time, because I can’t even get my own boyfriend to stop this. Think about that: he lives with me, so he gets exposure to me 24/7, and yet he’s still like this. He was just programmed to be like this by his parents, who are also like this. I have not been able to break him of bad habits…but I have, however, trained Justin to take a deep breath and then ask himself if whatever story that’s upset him makes any sense. Once he identifies who’s writing whatever seems upsetting, Justin can start to see the agenda…and reading a little further he can then tell that the fear porn that’s out there is almost always based on polls that Minitru has deliberately rigged to make Obama seem stronger than he really is. Polls that show Obama winning in any state while Independents are actually breaking to Romney in double digits are obvious propaganda from the Left because that’s just not possible. Obama can’t win if Independents and conservatives are solidly against him because this is a center-right country and the Left is not powerful enough to trump an Independent-Conservative coalition. Polls that show Obama winning a sizable share of Republican votes are also not credible, because no McCain 2008 voters are going to Obama this year and there’s nothing that Obama did in the last four years that would make people who sat out the 2008 election suddenly want to vote Democrat.

Romney is going to win the popular vote by about 10 million people and he’ll have a margin of victory in the electoral college of at LEAST 80-100 votes (but I think it will be more).

Obama’s just going to get people who always vote Democrat no matter what and he’ll get people who just want to vote for a person with dark skin to be president. That’s it. Leftists and racists. Anyone who thinks about the job Obama did and whether he deserves a second term is not going to reelect this man. It’s really as simple as that. The only states Obama will win on November 6th are those that always vote Democrat no matter what…but he will lose all the ones that vote Republican when Democrats let the mask slip and reveal themselves to be Leftists at heart. Ohio is a state just like that…so no way that it doesn’t go to Romney.

I wish all conservative writers could get on the same page and use the next nine days or so to really boost conservative enthusiasm so that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan win this election in true blockbuster form…but fear porn draws a lot of traffic to some sites and panicking people makes a lot of eyeballs rush to an article to see just how scary it really is. It’s Halloween. I get it…some people love being scared. It’s an irrational, exciting thrill. And web traffic is really important to HotAir, RedState, and Ace of Spades. But, man alive it is a waste of energy and I have to admit that Justin exhausts me when he needs me to talk him down off ledges or point out Minitru’s propaganda in something. I sympathize with all of you who have husbands who pull this garbage on you…because I deal with it myself in Justin. It’s even worse when Justin’s mother — a fear porn addict — gets worked up over something she’s read on HotAir or Breitbart and burns up our phone lines to spread the terror to Justin (and then me, through him). It actually hurts me that Ben Shapiro is allowed to put fear porn up on Breitbart because that’s something that Andrew Breitbart would not have permitted if he was still alive. I think Justin’s mom CarolAnne gets especially panicked when she reads Doom Reports on Breitbart because she foolishly trusts that without Andrew running things that place still has the standards it once did. The only guy over there I trust anymore is Mike Flynn (and sometimes Joel Pollack). The rest dabble in fear porn for web traffic, attention, and the thrill of it all.

I will never understand the motivation behind any of this…but I make a solid and personal choice to remain a rational observer of this election and the psy-ops tactics the Left is employing. It’s like watching a football game or some other sporting event if you’re not a fan with an emotional interest in whoever wins…but you are a rival coach scouting the game and jotting down the plays that are being run from a strategic perspective. There’s so much going on here besides Romney beating Obama in the presidential race…there are all these various players in these heated dramas who are working their agendas for either exposure or reward from Minitru by carrying water for the Left when the lefties needed it most. Everyone in politics knows Obama is going to lose…but some have a vested interest in propping up a false narrative that he can still win, just because that’s the storyline Minitru wants written.

It would be marvelous if everyone in conservative ranks really was playing for our side, but that’s clearly not true. The best I can settle for is that conservative readers really will hold people like Allahpundit, Erick Erikson, Ben Shapiro, and Ace accountable when their predictions of doom are all voided on November 7th and people ask these guys in a very loud voice “Why the Hell did you freak so many people out for no good reason?”. What they’re counting on is that people will just be so happy to be rid of Obama that they won’t remember how much fear porn freaked them out right before the election…but I really help YOU remember what these guys did and make sure there are consequences for it.

Just as the Democrats will fall into Civil War between the Clinton Restoration and Obama Remnant camps in a little over nine days, I really hope the euphoria of Romney’s win doesn’t preclude some soul-searching on the conservative side of the aisle as to how best to conduct ourselves online during elections. There will be a lot of celebration and excitement — and RELIEF — once Obama is defeated…but I hope many of you out there also avoid the usual Republican amnesia that prevents people from asking “Why the heck were these guys freaking us out about Ohio when Romney won it 54% to 46%?”. I hope people then realize that all the energy wasted being upset about “losing Ohio” could have been positive energy that was directed at helping the Romney campaign in some way that made the win even bigger. The wave this year could be so big that New Jersey could be lost to Democrats…or Oregon. I know that seems unthinkable, but even things that are not probable are actually POSSIBLE this time. It is a once-in-our-lifetimes perfect storm against the Left where the possibilities of taking safe Democrat states away from Obama is better than ever before in modern history. And, yet, you’ve got sad sacks and fear porn peddlers out there worrying people about “Romney losing Ohio” when in fact it’s really Democrats who are scared to death of Obama losing so badly that even ILLINOIS could slip away. Not probably, but possible…and actually a lot more likely than Obama winning Ohio. Wrap your heads around THAT.

I have no idea how big Romney’s win is going to be because I don’t know how much the Eeyores and fear porn addicts will depress enthusiasm…but the sky really does seem to be the limit here. This is a very exciting time to be a Republican, and I am very proud of our nominee and the job he’s done running this campaign. Just as Chris Matthews did for Barack Obama, after Mitt Romney wins I will personally do everything I can for the next four years to help Romney succeed. And I want Romney to succeed because his doing so is good for the country, unlike the water-carrying that MSNBC did for Obama…which nearly drowned us all.

It really has been a pitch-perfect campaign by team Romney/Ryan because the key to winning was showing Independents just how radically Left the Democrats have become…while simultaneously proving to them that Mitt Romney is a nice man who knows what the heck he’s doing. Romney is a classic remedy to everything that is wrong with Barack Obama…which is why he’ll be our next president in nine days. I’m combative and pugilistic so of course I would have enjoyed taking punches at Obama and going negative on him…but Romney rightly saw that the key to winning was remaining positive and uplifting…which is what Americans wanted. Believe me, after Romney’s president there will be plenty of time to bring to light every secret Obama’s hiding. I hope we all collaborate on that…and in the years ahead you see that everything I ever told you about this man is not only true, but the tip of a very sleazy iceberg.

Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can’t fail. That’s the spirit of the next few days, provided of course you do YOUR part and help Romney/Ryan all you can. You’ve always been the key to this election. I never wanted to run a website and at times have chafed with the burden of doing this and the sacrifices it requires every day, but I like to think it was all worth it if my writing here has inspired even a handful of people out there to do something good to help defeat Barack Obama in this election. Getting off the couch, pushing your comfort zone a little, and going out into your community in the name of Romney/Ryan and American freedom is the key to our victory…and it makes me feel like all the hard work was worth it here if a scrappy little former Hillary Clinton website from the 2008 campaign was able to play a small part in the destruction of the Left and the Democrat Party that veered so unrecognizably from the entity I used to be a part of back in the day.

All that’s left to decide right now is how big a win Mitt Romney is going to have…so please go out there today and do SOMETHING to help make this happen.

Justin and I are driving up to the Kenosha, Wisconsin area to canvass and hand out little cards telling people how to watch “The Hope and the Change” on Hulu.com for FREE (to try to drive even more Independents to Romney/Ryan). Justin hates driving far and I honestly could use the rest this Sunday, but we’re doing it anyway because I want as many people to see this film as possible and this is the only way I can think of to reach people who don’t come to political websites or who otherwise would never know about the movie being FREE on Hulu right now.

People like Pat Caddell are why Juan Williams got fired from PeeBS for being a contributor on Fox News. When leftwing extremists only talk among themselves it is easy to believe that there is no story there. When someone periodically questions your beliefs you are forced to evaluate them and or defend. That makes closed minded pinheads nervous.

Rather than exposing themselves to more truth they instinctively pull up the blanket and hide under the covers.

Obviously not all lefties are closed minded intolerant bigots.

Parsing the Polls
If Gallup is right, Tuesday will be a long night for the Democratic party.
By Michael G. Franc
November 3, 2012 12:00 A.M.

Last week, the Gallup Organization provided more fodder for the debate over whether this year’s polls are skewed due to a systematic over-representation of Democrats in the samples. If Gallup has it right, Governor Romney’s lead may be several percentage points greater than the most recent round of polls suggests.

Gallup reviewed all of its interviews with “likely voters” conducted since October 1. Its conclusion: “The composition of the electorate for the 2012 presidential election is looking quite similar to what it was in 2008 as well as 2004.” Indeed, whether the sample is broken out on the basis of race, gender, level of education, or geographic location, the percentage of likely voters in each subset is no different than it was four years earlier.

But Gallup uncovered one very significant shift in this year’s voting electorate. There has been a remarkable movement toward the Republican party. As Gallup reports:

The largest changes in the composition of the electorate compared with the last presidential election concern the partisan affiliation of voters. Currently, 46% of likely voters identify as Democrats or lean Democratic, compared with 54% in 2008. But in 2008, Democrats enjoyed a wide 12-point advantage in party affiliation among national adults, the largest Gallup had seen in at least two decades. More recently, Americans have been about as likely to identify as or lean Republican as to identify as or lean Democratic. Consequently, the electorate has also become less Democratic and more Republican in its political orientation than in 2008. In fact, the party composition of the electorate this year looks more similar to the electorate in 2004 than 2008.

If anything, Gallup understates the case. In 2008, Democrats enjoyed a decisive ten-point advantage in partisan affiliation, 39 percent to 29 percent. When undecided voters were pushed to choose a party, the Democrats’ edge grew by another two points, to 54 percent to 42 percent. Yet in the Gallup polls conducted since October 1, the two parties have pulled even, with Republicans actually ahead by a statistically insignificant percentage point, 36 percent to 35 percent. After being pushed to choose a party, likely voters give the Republicans a further boost, resulting in an overall three-point advantage of 49 percent to 46 percent.

If you are keeping score, in slightly less than four years President Obama has presided over an eleven-point decrease in his party’s standing with the American people, 15 points if you include those voters who “lean” one way or the other.

The Pew Research Center has posted party identification data going all the way back to 1929. The data series suggests that this deterioration in the Democrats’ standing with American voters is nearly unprecedented. The only comparable meltdown occurred during the tumultuous years of the Vietnam War and the birth of the Great Society under LBJ, when the Democrats also suffered an eleven-point loss relative to their Republican rivals.

If you are wondering which president defied the odds and steered his party forward during his time in office, try Ronald Reagan. From 1981 to 1988 the Gipper’s principled conservative leadership whittled the Democrats’ initial 14-point edge down to a mere five points.

To be sure, the most recent spate of national polls include more Republicans than did the surveys conducted earlier in October. Nevertheless, they still give more advantage to the Democrats than Gallup’s aggregate data suggest should be the case. ABC/Wall Street Journal’s most recent poll, for example, includes 34 percent Democrats and 30 percent Republicans, the Investors Business Daily poll sets the Democrats’ advantage at seven points (38 percent to 31 percent), and an Associated Press survey comes in two percentage points more Democratic than Republican.

Correcting these polls so that there was a Republican edge in the sample of voters consistent with Gallup’s finding would hand Romney a lead between five to ten points. Imagine the run on smelling salts at leftist Mother Jones and MSNBC if that were to happen?

Conservatives using Alinsky's Rule Number 5
By Thomas Lifson

Two of the most interesting stars in the world of conservative broadcasting have newly published books timed for the for the Christmas season. Michael Savage and Greg Gutfeld are both masters of ridicule, a tool extensively deployed by the left but too little by the right, especially its more respectable regions. The left, after all, was instructed by Saul Alinsky in Rule Number 5: Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It's hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage."

Talk radio, the king of conservative media, reaching by far the largest number of people, is home to a number of superstars, who use ridicule extensively. Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Glenn Beck, and Michael Savage, each in his own distinctive style, make fun of liberals.

Gutfeld is the exception, working at Fox News, where he co-hosts an afternoon talk show, The Five, and is the creator and host of Red Eye, a 3 AM humor show featuring wisecracking guests, YouTube videos, and general wackiness. The intended demographic seems to include college kids through the upper middle aged, looking for hip and edgy commentary on the news.

The title of Greg Gutfeld's new book, The Joy of Hate, reveals the in-you-face style within, mocking the liberals who call conservatives haters, throwing the charge back in their faces, as in Chapter 7, "A Pep Smear."

The network where I work is evil, or so I am told by people who don't watch it. Which is why my employer is the only media enterprise exempt from the warm hug of tolerance. A half dozen media groups are devoted to tripping it up. Endless comedians, bloggers, and talking heads devote most of their mental energies to demonizing the network. And why? Because out of a media culture that is purely liberal - from newspapers, to networks, to music and entertainment - one entity rejects such easy assumptions about the world. And for the modern, tolerant liberal, that simply cannot be tolerated. Everyone must be in lockstep - before we can disagree, apparently.

The mix of irony and insight is what makes Gutfeld dangerous to the left. His juxtapositions of liberals' rhetoric with their behavior make them appear ridiculous. It is Alinsky's dream: "hard to counterattack." He uses this approach throughout the book, exposing liberal foibles, and arming his readers with arguments they can use with their liberal friends. The conversational tone in which Gutfeld writes makes the narrative adaptable by readers to their own political discussions.

I am encouraged by Gutfeld's increasing visibility at FNC; recently he guest-hosted The O'Reilly Factor, the network's most viewed show, and with his impish and expressive humor, he should continue to rise there. The liberal media, however, is not anxious to increase his visibility beyond Fox, because he is capable of reaching impressionable young minds that might be questioning the indoctrination they have received in the nation's educational system. As, I wrote above, he is dangerous to the left, and I would add, he deserves more respect on the right. Yes, he is a bit of a clown, but he reaches and he teaches minds in a way that learned treatises never will. And always with a wry smile.

The subject of conservative stars who don't get as much respect as they deserve brings us to Michael Savage, whose new memoir is titled Train Tracks. Savage is something of a bête noir among his fellow conservative big names. Part of this can be attributable to his harsh criticism and even mockery of them, and part to his tendency to hot headedness at times when he gets worked up. However, since his firing by MSNBC in 2003, he has managed his temper rather successfully.

Savage is a brilliant original, a mind of considerable breadth and depth, and an artist of the spoken word, a gifted storyteller. Train Tracks is full of stories, ranging from mini-chapters of 300 or so words to long, complicated tales with almost parable-like character. Fans of his, and there are millions of them, will revel in the details of his life, and come to understand his passions and the factors which shaped them.

Although few of them will bother, critics of Savage would also benefit from the book. Savage celebrates and exemplifies striving, and he chronicles his own story of effort, dedication, and sacrifice while earning his PhD from Berkeley, only to discover that because he was not a woman or a favored minority, an academic career would be denied to him. I have a friend with this very same experience who was crushed when he found that the year he was on the market to be hired, all but one of the positions in his field filled that year were taken by women and favored minorities. He found other work, but giving up his dream (he stopped writing his dissertation with only a couple of chapters left to go) has caused him grief and anger throughout his life. The left styles itself the savior of victims, but never reckons with the victims it creates. Savage is one victim who fought back.

On air, Savage unleashes his wit against his nemeses, ranging from the academic world which rejected him, to the mentally diseased (his term) left, to conservatives who don't measure up to his standards. But he is a performer with a consierable range, and rage is not his only, or even characteristic approach. He is the greatest storyteller in modern broadcasting, weaving a verbal web that captures the listener and takes a journey to a time and place somewhere the listener has never been. Train Tracks is based on that Savage.

The stories range from Savage's semi-impoverished childhood in New York (the train tracks of the title refer to his first journey out of New York City as a young child in the early 1950s, taking a train from Penn Station to Easton, PA, visiting an aunt and uncle there), to his current life, where, he tells us, he enjoys his 60 foot yacht, the culmination of a lifetime of interest in boats and ships, itself the basis of a number of entertaining stories.

Train Tracks also features a collection of pictures from Savage's life, one of which, showing a teen age muscle-builder Savage, was startling. From an early age, he obviously learned how to set a goal and reach it. He was one buffed teen.

Reading borh books, I could almost hear the authors reading the words aloud in my mind, so characteristic of the their on-air presence was their prose. Fans of each should be delighted to receive a copy in their Christmas stockings this year.

bama is the closest thing to Nixon we've seen in 40 years

It is not without a bit of irony that, in the 40 years since the explosion of the Watergate story, Bob Woodward would again be under attack from the White House for trying to tell the truth. But this time the attack is coming from a Democrat.

While Barack Obama may not share the Nixon pedigree, he and his White House are the closest thing to the Nixon regime of any that we have seen since then -- both in the extent of their paranoia and their willingness to suppress the truth and push the boundaries of law.

In my lifetime, in over 40 years in national politics, Mr. Obama is the only president who comes close to rivaling Richard Nixon for fundamental disingenuousness.

However, some things never change, just as Woodward and Bernstein were attacked then by the establishment mainstream media for daring to question a president -- or do a story that they wouldn't touch -- they are once again attacking Woodward the way they did when he and Carl Bernstein pursued Watergate.

As the youngest person on Nixon's enemies list in 1972, I am particularly sensitive to a White House where they have utter disregard for trampling on dissent and on the rights of individuals.

Since Benghazi, when I raised the alarm about a media that was not only willing to blatantly support one political party or one political a candidate but for the first time seemed willing to suppress or ignore the facts and truth as related to a disaster of American foreign policy, my fear has been that we are now on a slippery slope. Almost everything since then has helped to realize that fear. Chuck Hagel, the sequester, Mr. Obama's speeches -- all of these have revealed a mainstream press that has absolutely decided to wear its bias openly as outriders of the Obama administration. Except for one issue -- when the president refused to allow reporters to cover him and Tiger Woods playing golf together. Now that's something they can get riled up about.

What this Woodward, White House sequester battle highlights is the crisis in our democracy. Not so much for what it says about Mr. Obama and his administration but for what it says about the establishment press and all the members of my own party.

During Watergate, there were a number of Republicans who were willing to stand against the president of their party in defense of the United States of America.

Sadly, as as Democrat, I must confess, that today there is no Democratic Senator or member of the House who appears to be willing to publicly put the country ahead of Barack Obama's White House.

As important as these other issues are, however, nothing rivals Benghazi.

During the Chuck Hagel confirmation fight, it was revealed that to this day, neither the public nor the Congress know the names of those who were evacuated out of Benghazi. Nor have we ever seen the transcripts of the interviews which were conducted immediately after the event.

The White House's excuse, that this information cannot be revealed because of an FBI investigation, is eerily and frighteningly similar to Nixon telling H.R. Haldeman and John Ehrlichman to "turn off" the Watergate investigation as it threatened national security.

Sadly, it now appears that Director Mueller and the FBI are willing to serve, once again, as an instrument of cover up for an administration -- this time following a tragedy in which 4 Americans are now dead.

As much as I have always admired Bob Woodward and admire now him in the sequester fight and for his willingness to take on the White House, I cannot refrain from expressing my disappointment that this man, who did such a service for the country 40 years ago, has essentially taken himself off the boards of the Benghazi fiasco. I wish that if Woodward were to get in a fight, he would do it on an issue that really matters to the safety of the United States.
